DVD Tournament postponed

Round one of voting has ended for the DVD March Madness tournament. Unfortunately there was a slight technical issue and the voting for round two is postponed until after spring break.

5-minute, nontechnical conversations (podcasts) from scientists

I learned at a library conference that the science journal PNAS offers these 5 minute podcasts from their site. For the time being they appear to be open to the public and cover a variety of science topics. Nutrition, plant biology, and chaos dynamics are a few of the current podcasts listed.

TV show March Madness contest returns

This is our third year doing a tournament of TV shows in honor of March Madness. 32 shows are going head to head this month to see which show is added to the library collection. We will purchase all available seasons for whichever show wins. Heavy favorites are House and Family Guy, but we'll have to see how the voting goes. Which show will join Grey's Anatomy and The Office on the library shelves? You decide! Watch your Otterbein email for links to the survey, or take it here.

This library database resource can be especially useful to Otterbein athletic training, nursing, sports management, allied health and health education majors as well as other similar majors.

The Physical Education Index allows you to acquire accurate and scholarly information ranging from physical education curricula, to sports medicine, to dance. Other coverage includes sport law, kinesiology, motor learning, recreation, standardized fitness tests, sports equipment, business and marketing, coaching and training, and sport sociology/psychology. Health education and physical therapy are also covered as they continue to become more prevalent in our society.

Resource for English Department Students & Faculty

The Literature Resource Center is a library database that is often overlooked. It contains current and reliable online information you can use as a resource in your research. There are articles from more than 360 academic journals and literary magazines. There is a lot of information to browse and search, including; book reviews, including everything from children’s literature to adult fiction to non-fiction and scholarly studies, biographical essays on more than 130,000 authors, thousands of poems and short stories, overview essays on thousands of books and links to editorially selected websites on authors and their works.
