Civil War Memorabilia

During April, Otterbein’s Courtright Memorial Library will be displaying Civil War memorabilia on the first floor. Display cases hold various journals, pictures, artisan sketches and other documents created during the 1860s when the face of our country was changing. The exhibit also includes recently acquired letters written from an Otterbein student, William Oyler, during the war. The three letters were written near the closing of the Civil War. The letters to his father and sister tell his thoughts on the death of President Lincoln, the surrender of Lee's troops and how forward the women of Otterbein act! Each letter has been retyped so you can read about what really went on during the time of our forefathers. Be sure to check out this display while it’s available.
